Fenstanton URC welcomes new minister.

Posted: 21/06/2008

Hello! My name is Catherine Ball. May I introduce myself to you as the new minister of Fenstanton United Reformed Church and St Ives Free Church?

After graduating from Westminster College, Cambridge in 1999 I was ordained as a minister of the URC, serving first in St Neots URC and as Free Church Chaplain at Hinchingbrooke Hospital for three years and then at Sawston Free Church and Little Abington URC for the past six.

I am married to the Revd Peter Ball who is the Training and Church Development Officer of the Eastern Synod of the URC. We have two sons, James, age 20 and in 2nd year Medicine at Liverpool University, and Chris, age 25 and living in Haverhill with his fiancť, Kirsty.

Originally I am from Canada, and prior to going into ministry, worked as a medical social worker. I emigrated to England 15 years ago where I worked in the office of Monarch Publications, a Christian Publishing Company. My work experiences have helped me develop an interest in pastoral care and also in media and communication. My passion is to present the good news of Godís love as shown in Jesus Christ in both work and deed as we show Godís concern for this world in acts of kindness, hospitality, generosity, and publicly in our corporate stands for justice and peace in society.

My particular interest is in children and young people and I hope that we as a pastorate can continue to build and develop relationships with the schools and colleges in our communities through use of current technology and seeking to identify with the needs and life experiences of people in our contemporary society. This will mean continual formation of fresh expressions of church life to relate to changes in society Ė sometimes to connect with similar outlooks and at other times to challenge and question developments that are counter to Godís reign of love and justice.

I am thrilled to be here in a market town near Cambridge and love the English countryside. My hobbies are gardening, walking and playing tennis and badminton. I pray that by Godís grace I may be faithful in serving you here.

My phone no. is 01480 352 058 if you would like to contact me for any reason. I am available to conduct weddings, funerals and baptisms/baby blessings.

In Christís love,
